Energy Efficiency
Sep 9, 2025
We are currently progressing with the following projects to implement high-efficiency cogeneration electricity and heat production units for self-consumption:
Increasing energy efficiency at PAJO AGRICULTURE S.R.L. through the use of cogeneration equipment
Location: 176 Calea lui Traian Street, Băbeni, Vâlcea county
Estimated value of the project: 2.700.000 € (VAT INCLUDED)
Commissioning date: 31.03.2024
Increased energy efficiency at AVICARVIL S.R.L. through the use of cogeneration equipment
Location: Municipality of Târgu Jiu, Gorj county
Estimated value of the project: 1.743.440 € (VAT INCLUDED)
Commissioning date: 31.03.2024
The aim of this project is to establish the conditions for the construction of a high-efficiency cogeneration plant with natural gas turbines at the Pajo Agriculture factory to cover part of the site’s electricity and heat consumption.
To this end, 2 turbines with an electrical output of 200 kWel each were installed, with a total installed electrical output of up to 0.4 MWel (electrical).
The project aims to establish the conditions for the construction of a high-efficiency cogeneration plant, which will be installed on the land owned by the beneficiary. The high-efficiency cogeneration plant was connected to the internal electrical and thermal installations of the Avicarvil slaughterhouse via the heat recovery unit which was connected to the return circuit of the hot water boilers. The estimated electricity to be produced (annual average) is 1,560 MWh/ year and the estimated heat energy to be produced (annual average) is 3,080 MWh/year.
Photovoltaic Parks Project
In order to achieve energy independence, the Carmistin Organization is pursuing a dual strategy: the establishment and implementation of a series of photovoltaic power plants, as well as equipping its own facilities with solar panels. The Carmistin Organization has set a very ambitious goal for the coming years, namely to develop, in the near future, a renewable energy production capacity with a volume of 100 MWh.
The volume of 100 MWh will be reached by Carmistin Organization gradually by setting up and commissioning photovoltaic power plants (PV) of various capacities, starting from 0.1 MW up to 9.75 MW per plant.
The implementation of photovoltaic installations with a capacity of 26.638 MW has been initiated. The technological process that will be carried out on the site of each newly created CEF will be one for the production of electricity by harnessing solar potential. The target area of
this ambitious and challenging project by the Carmistin Group of companies will be the southern part of Romania, where Carmistin Organization has its operational activities. The project will be supported by significant investment, both from internal resources and external funding obtained from the European Union and other non-reimbursable sources.
These investments, which our organization intends to develop, will be beneficial for the local communities, as they are environmentally friendly investments that will support both the development of the local energy infrastructure and the use of the local workforce in the works and the operation of the photovoltaic power plants (CEFs). This is why we believe that the investment will bring multiple benefits to the local communities.
150,000 sqm roof area of own facilities for the installation of photovoltaic panels
Carmistin group of companies completed in June 2023 the implementation of 4,400 kWel in 14 locations.
This will ensure energy independence by enabling the use of green energy, and will position us, in compliance with the requirements in the field, as an important prosumer in the National Energy System in Romania.
This project is expected to generate 5,400,000 kW/year, thereby avoiding the emission of approximately 2600 CO2 /year into the atmosphere.
All these measures and investments will be made by our group of companies in order to ensure the energy resources necessary for the continuous operation of the facilities and constructions intended for agricultural activities, energy security of the activity, sustainable development as well as to enhance the competitiveness of our group of companies on the market, in terms of the level of prices of the Organization’s products, given that electricity and thermal energy prices began rising sharply at the end of 2021, a trend which continues to this day, exerting upward pressure with a negative effect on the prices of all products.
In this new context, maintaining a high competitiveness of Carmistin Group of companies by mitigating the negative influence of the increase in electricity prices - possible through the development of our own production and self-consumption capacities presented above - will ensure operational continuity and will create the premises for the development of our group of companies, will lead to the preservation of the current workforce as well as to its growth through the development of new production capacities as well as to the promotion of the successful Romanian business.
