Major Investments in ORGANIC Agriculture
Sep 9, 2025
Organic farming is a segment of great importance and perspective for the Carmistin organization, as it represents a sustainable development process and generates a multitude of favorable effects at farm and environmental level. This perspective is supported by the growing demand for organic agricultural products, as consumers are becoming more aware and interested in ensuring health through the consumption of organic products.
The organization has become one of the largest organic producers in Romania, with about 30% of its cultivated land registered under organic agriculture.
Organic farming involves the use of plant and animal husbandry techniques that respect the natural balance by excluding the use of synthetic chemicals, promoting and enhancing biodiversity, stimulating biological cycles and limiting the use of inputs.
In today’s climatic context, excluding the above would have greatly reduced production on crop farms, but we have identified a solution by implementing irrigation projects. The implemented irrigation systems feature sustainable water management technology. Irrigation pivots allow flexible and efficient water application schemes on crops with savings of more than 70%. Full automation of the irrigation system also allows 95% control of water application across the irrigated area resulting in uniform distribution to crops.
